METHODS
This prospective study was carried out among homozygous sickle cell anemia (Hydrea drug is used for reducing the number of painful episodes and blood transfusions needed by adults with sickle cell anemia) patients attending the medical outpatient (MOP) clinic of the University of llorin Teaching Hospital, llorin, Nigeria regularly for at least the preceding year.
